The Global Poll launch day!!

The global poll

Well after almost two years, The Global Poll finally launched today at 10am.

Over the past two weeks, The Global Poll has invited people to suggest poll questions to go live for today’s launch. Some of these questions, which can now be viewed and voted on, include:

  • What have you or will you spend your Stimulus Package bonus on?
  • How will median property prices change in Sydney this year?
  • If Australia becomes part of a pandemic involving Swine Flu, what precautions (if any) would you take to help prevent catching it?
  • What do you think of the Commonwealth Government’s decision to delay the operation of the Emissions Trading Scheme until 2011?

To get off to a good start, The Global Poll is running a competition and giving away a prize pack consisting of a Dell Inspiron(TM) Mini 10 Laptop with mobile printer and a 24-month Optus ‘yes’ wireless 2GB mobile broadband connection, valued at $2,173.

To have a chance to win, entrants must vote on one or many Global Poll questions. Entrants will receive an additional entry for each poll they have voted on. The competition closes at 11.59 pm on Monday, 18 May 2009 AEST.

Make your voice heard on the Emissions Trading Scheme

There are less than four days left before our official launch and quite a few thought-provoking and topical questions have been submitted.

One of the interesting questions is the one about the Emissions Trading Scheme. Independent community advocacy organisation GetUp has started a petition on the same topic and it will be very interesting to see where it goes and the impact it may - or may not – have on the Government’s decision.

Do you think popular votes on The Global Poll, a petition by GetUp and other community actions like these will influence the Government’s decision?

To make sure the ‘Emissions Trading Scheme’ poll goes live on our launch day (Tuesday, 12 May) and we get the opportunity to give the Government our opinion,  register and give your popular vote to this question before this Sunday, 10 May 11:59 pm AEST.
